Tip 3

If your practicing is hitting a boring plateau, here is a suggestion. Play a new, or old, song using chords. Repeat the song and try different strumming rhythms, tempos, keys, and styles. Sometimes a capo can make an old song new too.

Look up a song on Chordie (http://www.chordie.com/), FretPlay (http://fretplay.com) or Ultimate-Guitar (http://ultimate-guitar.com) and find a lyric and chord page instead of tabs. Play the chords and try playing a melody that follows the vocals. Get jazzy and do that and ornament.

One of my favorites is taking Foxy Lady by Hendrix and playing it like a slow bluesy jazzy song with the chords. In a way, it almost sounds like the song Venus.

Anyway, the point is to make practicing fresh and to give an opportunity to try something different.
