Tango Rhythms 1 Marcato
Article Tags: tango rhythm link marcato
A simple Tango rhythm is the Marcato. Tap you foot, each time you hear a tap, that's the beat and that's a Marcato. In other words, count 1, 2, 3, 4 and that's the Marcato. This is like trance and other dance music that you may have heard before.

For fingerstyle, this can be a simple free stroke with p (thumb) or you could do a bit of a rasgueado with ma (middle and ring) or i (index). Though in the context of a song, this is usually for the bass notes as the melody would be different.

For pickers, use down strokes or alternate down-up, down-up.

Try out this Marcato rhythm on songs you know by changing the picking pattern to this.
