Fingernail Pics and Fingers
Article Tags: fingernail finger
Was reading in a classical guitar forum about someone with some finger length problems. The part that really stood out was a link to a page with some fingernail pics. People learning or dabbling with nylong strings are curious about nails: maintenance, shape, length, etc. The link has some front and back pics to see.
This topic also brings up finger shape. It seems nearly everyone has problems getting a full barre. One student has jammed his finger repeatedly and there's a wide arced hump. Barring on the 7th on up fret or so is tough. The suggestion is to rotate the index finger counter-clockwise to the fretboard to find a spot along the finger's edge without a hump. Many players don't think about rotating the finger like this, the classical fretboard sends off this 'gotta be flat' vibe to the eyes which goes to the hands.
