Sweeps Lesson for Major Chords
To help add some flavor to a chord progression and add a fill between solo sections or some other time, I've created some sweep patterns to use in place of major chords. You can use this pattern for any major or major 7 chord. The concept is like using a chord substitution. Take a I IV V progression in G:
G | G | G | G | C | C | G | G | D | C | G | D | You can accentuate the repetition of the the G or C chord with one of the two patterns. Another idea is to use the pattern on the last D. You could even pick yourself crazy and do ascending and descending arpeggios for every chord--accuracy on the first, root, note is a bit tricky but not too hard. Anyway, this is a way to use a flashy technique in a musical way. Link (http://walzguitar.com/resources/pdf/WalzGuitar-Sweeps-Major.pdf) Added on: 2009 07 29
