Acoustic Guitar Pins
My wife bought me an Ibanez exotic wood acoustic for Christmas. I was looking around for upgrade ideas and happened upon bridge pins. Firstly, there seems to be a little debate over whether pins affect tone. After touching on this tone I have a link to some cool bridge pin options.
Do bridge pins affect tone? Yes. If it's attached to the soundboard, top of the acoustic, and vibrates then it affects tone. I could leave out the 'vibrates' verb there. Simple as that. Ever noticed how you can lay your pick hand forearm on the soundboard and create a slight wah or envelope filter effect? You're in the same territory. To determine how much pins affect tone, that's where you enter the land of depends. The link I found gets into different types of pins with a description of the effect on tone.
